Know and practice different sports

Alternatives in the area of Physical Education

These types of activities allow a greater critical sense and capacity for discovery on the part of the student, which implies a greater understanding of their body, a better knowledge of their capacities and a more effective search for solutions to the problems that arise.

We agree with Torres et al. (1994) in which the proposed activities must be functional and significant, being necessary, simultaneously, that they be motivating and appropriate to the development of the student.

Recommended activities are those that involve a constant search, introspection and interaction with the environment as fundamental elements of the methodological process, being through this search how the student will discover different forms of corporal expression, multiple linguistic connections, different reasons and playful forms. ,

Practical knowledge, in a strong sense, requires an understanding

of the procedures involved in a sporting game, “according to rules and a description of how it is done”, that is, it requires an understanding of the nature of that game.

Arnold (1991) points out that in the search for a greater cognitive involvement of our students in the development of the tasks, it is important that they have theoretical information about each alternative 스포츠중계 that we are going to deal with: the rules, the space, the time, the roles, the correct technique, the right tactics, etc.

Carrying out an initial evaluation or objective test of the theoretical contents can be an ideal procedure to start each content, since this prior knowledge facilitates the work and the acquisition in practice of the technical-tactical fundamentals.

Through the work of groups and teams,

cooperation and cooperation – opposition should be encouraged without this meaning holding competitions as a rule, but a search for collaboration by the participants assuming the specific roles of the game at all times, as well as knowledge and acceptance of their possibilities and limitations and those of others.

In addition, competition understood as accepting the challenge of competing against others can offer us a series of interesting values related to the acceptance of the rules, respect for the decisions made by referees, judges or opponents, the acceptance of defeat or failure, the assimilation of victory, relationships of affection and friendship with companions and adversaries, etc.

It is evident that the activities that we plan will be conditioned to the resources that we have.

In such a way that it will be necessary to take into account: the structure of the center or facilities that we have, the human resources and the material means.

The quality of teaching, which, on the other hand, society demands from the educational system and teachers, makes us reflect, invites us to review, to carry out continuous or permanent training plans, to update the methodology, didactic resources, to integrate new contents and discard others expired, in short, to propose other and new alternatives, and all this within each area.

Physical education is no exception to the rule and although there are conservative and laid-back professionals, there are many more who breathe air of renewal, who have progressive views for the subject they teach, who do not settle, who investigate, study, move, they experiment, in short, they worry about what they are going to give tomorrow, trying to do their bit in the part that corresponds to them in the comprehensive education of their students.

One of the ways to contribute to this is by introducing new content, new alternatives, into the curriculum of our subject, as is the case we are dealing with, that is, introducing new games and sports that we call alternative, and they constitute a new lifeblood because they are sports unusual in the school physical-sports environment.

Whenever we can, we should teach the basic techniques of the selected games and sports so that, once the learning process is over, everyone is able to continue successfully and with some autonomy, ensuring continuity in the activity.

In order to transmit sports information to the population,

the figure of the sports entertainer is essential and necessary, especially at the beginning, at the organizational level and at the level of execution of the activity itself.

The reason for alternative sports in Physical Education

In recent years, teachers in general feel the need to transform, renew, reform, and this also directly affects physical education, as a fundamental part of the curriculum of subjects or areas that try to fully train and develop the student.

All the activities that are selected must cover, in the first place, the real interests of the population to which it is directed.

Within the wide spectrum of possibilities offered by sports activity, we must focus more on those modalities that for various reasons have been forgotten or marginalized both in school programs and in recreational ones.

Establish as a priority objective the search for activities that do not require conventional or very expensive facilities, taking advantage whenever possible of the possibilities offered by outdoor spaces, both in urban centers and in the countryside.

We must make known, above all, those games that best adapt to the current interests of the population and their usual environments of residence.

Select sports activities, always taking into account important aspects such as the type of effort, the degree of difficulty of the activity and the type of risk.

These factors will always be taken into account when defining programs for young people, adults or the elderly.

Take advantage of modern technology to investigate the use of new materials applied to games and sports.

Likewise, look for new alternatives to conventional sports facilities, either modifying them or creating new, more versatile ones.

As a general rule, within recreational sport, we must always highlight the playful and recreational aspect over the competitive aspect. Look for situations where you work in a group, especially with young people.

Disseminate activities whose practice can be carried out throughout life: simple skills, moderate efforts and low risk.
